  • Bleaching: Our office makes custom trays for patients to wear on their time when convenient. It is a short appointment to take impressions and then you’re on your way to a brighter smile! Our bleaching gel contains fluoride, so there’s less possibility of any sensitivity occurring and is stronger than over the counter brands. It will help to remove staining and give you a brighter smile.
  • Veneers: Veneer treatment is an option if you have minor spacing, heavy staining or grooves in teeth that cause unevenness. A veneer generally covers part of the tooth and is created at a dental lab. Dr. Vanyo discusses all treatment options with a patient when it comes to veneers especially due to the structure of the tooth.
  • Cosmetic Restoration: We offer procedures to restore chipped teeth, fractures, or minor restorations from decay issues. Tooth colored material can be used for all these treatments. The composite that is used for restorations, is a strong, long lasting alternative if the patient does not want to use any silver material. It is shade matched to the patients existing teeth so it will blend in and not be noticeable.
  • Extraction and Oral Surgery: If you are in need of an extraction or any type of dental surgery, we are here to take care of you! Dr. Vanyo sees multiple patients for extraction treatment each week – whether it’s 1 tooth or full mouth extractions. We understand that not everyone likes to be at the dentist, especially to have teeth extracted, so if you prefer to be sedated then we can refer you to a surgeon.
  • Fillings: There are a couple choices when it comes to fillings and material used. It can also differ upon the amount / size of area of decay. Our office uses composite (tooth colored) material and amalgam (silver). Patient is always given the choice of material used as that can also play a part in future restorability. Teeth are prepared for the filling material in similar manner, prior to either product being placed for final restoration.
  • Periodontal treatments: We offer perio scaling treatment – deeper cleaning just below the tooth / gum surface while a patient is numb. A portion of the mouth is done at each visit - usually completed in 2 appointments. After the perio scaling treatment it is recommended that the patient have more frequent cleanings, every 3-4 months. If the periodontal disease is more advanced we will refer you to a specialist for laser surgery and further treatment.
  • Cleanings / Exams. We understand that sometimes you might skip brushing your teeth or flossing, but when plaque is left on the teeth it becomes tartar. When tartar is not removed, it can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Tartar can only be removed by a dental professional. During your cleaning and exam Dr. Vanyo will evaluate your mouth, teeth, gum tissue and do a full oral cancer screening.
  • Cancer Screenings. Did you know that more than 49,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer each year? Oral cancer can be on your lips, mouth (oral cavity), throat, tonsils, cheeks, teeth, gums, tongue, bottom and roof of your mouth. Dr. Vanyo can pinpoint the early signs of oral cancer and refer you to a specialist to receive treatment right away.
  • Fluoride Treatments. Not everyone needs additional fluoride. Fluoride helps strengthen and prevent tooth decay by adding a barrier to attack the plaque bacteria from attaching to your teeth and creating decay. Fluoride comes in many different forms so you should discuss what is best for you and your family with Dr. Vanyo.
  • X-rays. There are some dental concerns that dentists can’t see just with their eyes. Our safe, reliable x-rays help get a detailed view of your oral health. X-rays help explain painful situations such as decay, infection, gum disease and tooth fracturing.
  • Sealants. Sealants are a protective seal that is placed in the grooves of the molar teeth, sealing them against bacteria and plaque. Eating sticky, sugary foods / drinks can lead to tooth decay. Candies and food can stick down in the grooves of the teeth and if not brushed and cleaned properly then decay can start. Sealants are placed as a preventive against that happening. Anyone can benefit from sealants, but they are especially helpful for young children and teenagers, who are more likely to get cavities.
  • Dentures / Partials. Dentures are used when a patient has no remaining teeth in the arch, either upper /lower or both. Partials can be fabricated when a patient is missing 1 or more teeth in an arch. Both appliances are removable and can be taken out and cleaned daily. We consult with all of our patients and make sure they are ready for this step and let them know we are here to help every way we can! In order for any appliance to be made, multiple impressions, measurements and final try-in appointments are then set up.
We also know that emergencies can happen at the most inconvenient times. To accommodate your needs, we offer emergency dental services in addition to our general and cosmetic dental services. If an emergency occurs, we'll do our best to get you in as soon as possible.

One or several missing teeth are more than just unpleasant to look at. They also can cause issues when eating, chewing, and even speaking problems. Gaps in your teeth can be uncomfortable and painful. Luckily, you don’t have to deal with any of these problems. Vanyo Dentistry can make custom partial dentures to help restore your smile.
Vanyo Dentistry has served the Durham, NC, community with quality dental services for over 35 years. Dr. Vanyo is dedicated to caring for each and every patient, so you know that your teeth are being cared for by a professional who cares about you and your family. Visit us today to see if partial dentures would be a good fit for you.

Quality Partial Dentures
For people who are only missing a few teeth, solutions can be simple, yet complex. For example: The implant option can be quite costly and the bridge option involves grinding down healthy teeth; (1 on either side of the space from each missing tooth). A partial denture offers an affordable option for patients who want a procedure that is less invasive and will not affect other teeth. A partial also replaces ALL missing teeth within an arch.
Partial dentures consist of replacement teeth that are bonded and attached to a metal framework. The experienced staff at Vanyo Dentistry fabricates partial dentures by taking precision impressions of your teeth to ensure the best possible fit. After the impressions are taken the framework is made. The framework is then tried in to check the fit and teeth are added to the framework. The patient returns for their final appointment and minor adjustments can be made at that time, if needed.
Once your partial(s) are in place, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of chewing, eating, and speaking without the obstacle of missing teeth.
